Lake Huron / Time to head back home
We had a visit from a friend that is visiting their brother here in Bright's Grove. Another coincidence!
Cheryl and Elizabeth
They have been friends since elementary school.
This weekend will be busy with more company. Kelly/Amie and family are camping here and some of their children (our grandchildren) are coming. It will be fun having all. And another coincidence... it's Father's Day. The weather is forecasted as nice also. Bonus.
Today is iffy for rain so we will do errands and groceries...hoping for an early ride tomorrow before the kids arrive.
We went looking for Kettle Point Historic site. A difficult thing to do as we found out. When we did find it, it was difficult to find the "Kettle Stones". There were some scattered around but we did find some on the properties of the nearby residences.
Kettle Stones look like huge kettles upside down.
We attended a matinee of the (musical) pantomine "The Wizard of Oz" at the Grand Bend Playhouse, part of the Drayton theatre group. It was amazing and we really enjoyed it. A great production and lots of laughs/puns/ and fun.
Some of the family were able to come up and camp on Father's Day week end and that was a real treat. The weather was great and we had shared meals and campfires. What a gift.
Garry's coffee pot
Amie (daughter) brought this relic. Garry was one of Jerry's best friends who past away due to Covid before the vaccines. He left most of his camping gear to Jerry and this was a coffee pot used for many years on canoe trips we enjoyed together. Miss you Garry. Thanks for bringing it Amie. It still makes great campfire coffee.
We are coming to the end of this trip and blog. Hoping to ride a bit more and we have another theatre show to see in Petrolia before we leave (on June 23) at the end of this week.
Todays Ride
We have really enjoyed being here this time of the year and staying in one location for a longer period of time.
You may recall last year we were on the road to BC the first week of May, travelled 13,000km or so and got home around Thanksgiving. So this start of the season has been a little more "quiet" and relaxed. Can't wait to get the laundry started...NOT!
This is a "screen" shot of Misty. In case you don't know, Misty is our cat who travels with us on our adventures. She has had her paws dipped (reluctantly) in the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans.
We bought this wind mobil a few years ago on a camping trip along the Gaspe. Happy Pride!
In June, many across Canada recognize Pride Month. It is a time when we celebrate the diversity of LGBTQ2S+ communities, while acknowledging their history, the hardships they have endured and the progress that has been made.
So for now,
"Not all those who wander are lost."
“Life is short. We don't have much time to gladden the hearts of those who walk this way with us. So, be swift to love and make haste to be kind.” (Henri-Frédéric Amiel)
Our love and hugs:
Jerry, Elizabeth, Misty, Miss Adventure Too and Clifford (the Big RED Truck)
